“I chose to practice emergency medicine and urgent care medicine for the sheer pleasure of dealing with the immediate problems and the gratification of seeing an immediate outcome. I chose family medicine as a primary focus especially because of the long-term relationships I might develop as I assist the patient in maintaining optimal health.
“My approach to patient care is with compassion, respect and an intellectual pursuit of the best care possible. I treat people and their problems the way I would treat myself or a family member. I want my patients to sense that they have a provider who cares about their needs.”
In his free time, Dr. Hargett enjoys music (he is a base and acoustic guitarist) and golf – although he doesn’t get to play as much as he’d like.

“I decided to become a physician assistant after working with other physician assistants during my Air Force career as a clinical laboratory scientist. I saw how they made such a positive impact on patients. My first preference was emergency medicine, then I expanded my practice to include urgent care, occupational medicine and primary care. I enjoy helping patients, parents and family members understand their health conditions and feel comfortable with their treatments.
“I believe in a team approach to care in which the patient and family members help me determine the best treatment plan for the patient. I also believe strongly in patient education because I want patients to feel comfortable and satisfied with their treatment and a better quality of life that results from receiving exceptional care.”
In his free time, Marshall enjoys photography, motorcycle riding and model railroading.
